First Real "Shoot"

My first time going on a defined expedition with the Nikon D40x garnered a ton of shots I couldn't use for sale, but with the stats and settings saved I am able to learn a great deal about how the camera works in different settings. It was an informal and impromptu shoot.

This first photograph I shot in Aperture Priority mode. I had the camera set to B & W from the last 'play' with it, and forgot to change it before taking this portrait. I was pleasantly surprised however with the results.*

This second one was good, but as a friend and mentor pointed out the pattern on his shirt, even in B&W was too distracting when the focus should have been his face. I agree. Lesson learned here too!

My nephew is a very photogenic little boy!

Someday I'll get started

I have only just begun the journey.

Recently I purchased my first (entry level) DSLR, a Nikon D40x. This blog will document my progress (hopefully) and serve as an online portfolio and future reference guide.

I will warn you, however, that I may not post anything for a while.
